56% on day 1 and rising!
over 5 years ago – Mon, Sep 14, 2020 at 05:22:41 PM

Hello Backers and welcome to the close of our first 24 hours!

We've successfully raised over $5600 on day 1 and that means we're well on the way to being funded quickly and knocking out more than a couple stretch goals!

Remaining Early Bird Slots: $40 / 112    -    $75 / 69

Hopefully you've grabbed one of the limited edition spots on the Early Bird train, there are a few left for those who are quick! We have about 175 remaining in the X-Mas delivery range! To clarify a few questions about the early bird levels, you will be able to add additional sets or items to your order during BackerKit and still keep the X-Mas delivery date for your Coins and Tokens! Even if we have to split the shipments, as long as we can get our initial quick order sets in hand before the holiday's we'll make sure they go out to you as soon as they arrive! *NOTE ABOUT INTERNATIONAL ORDERS* While shipping to the USA remains a little wild, anything coming out of here and going over seas is absolutely crazy right now. While we're going to try our best to get these in the mail before the holiday season really comes to a close, we can not guarantee that anyone will receive their packages before the end of the year. We will try our best!

The 13th Coin Mystery!

We've had a few people ask us the question "What will the 13th coin be? Is it the Artificer? That's an official 5e Class so is that it?" Well, when we unlock the $13,000 stretch goal that we're barreling towards we'll let you all know for certain! We're keen on not spoiling the secret before it's time! Rest assured, an update will go out when that happens.

How will the 13th coin work for pledge levels and are they limited?

To clarify another question we've been asked several times (that will be going into the FAQ), if we unlock a 13th coin then ALL SETS will include that 13th coin. It becomes part of the base package and all sets will no longer be 12, but 13 coins! If you order 3 sets of coins you'll be privy to 3 of the new coins and if you order a set of mixed and matched coins of your choosing you'll be able to choose 13 coins per set instead of 12, nobody is being left out!

Other than stretch goals, what's ahead of us during the campaign?

Other than unlocking stretch goals which will each come with a little story and a new image on top of awesome new unlocks, we're planning on breaking down our design process and reasoning behind each of the class coins over the next 3 weeks. Every day or so we'll post an update giving you a quick look at where the progress stands in the project and we'll include something interesting to read about a different coin every time until we've tackled all 12 (or possibly 13) coins in the set. Keep an eye out for the first one tomorrow!

Is there any way we can help, we love your project!

As a matter of fact, there IS a way that you can help! Why not spread the word on social media or pass along to your friends some information about our campaign? Use the link below and send out a message on Twitter, Facebook or any other platform you congregate on so that we can get more exposure! We've got some really awesome extras planned that will benefit everyone down the line and every bit of 'push' we can get will help!

Updates to Condition Coins 1 and Barbarian Design Choices
over 5 years ago – Mon, Sep 14, 2020 at 07:26:20 AM

Condition Token Designs

We've been working on some updates to the Condition Tokens and as you may notice, we have only featured on Kickstarter the test tokens that were created for us by the manufacturer.

That was on purpose!

We've had some designs in the works for a while now and have finally landed on a new mascot that we'll be using on our Condition Tokens. They'll be small and to the side just as the tokens have been shown but instead of generic symbols that don't match we've moved forward with a fun new design that shares a theme across the board. Here are 3 of the new designs below!

We'll show off some of the updated designs on the tokens before the campaign ends and ALL of the new condition "emoji's" before we're finished! You'll notice that they are simple so that the tiny images will be easier to see :)

Hero Coin Designs Part 1: The Barbarian

Our finalized black and white design for The Barbarian Coin.

A hard thing to do when designing something that you're not going to be able to describe with a lot of text is to get across a feeling of recognition of a specific thing with only an image at a glance. As with all of the coins the main goal is to provide something that's both simple enough to just "get it" when you see it and also complex enough to provide your eyes with something that is pleasing to look at. The Barbarian was the first class and coin that was tackled because I chose to simply start at the beginning, with the first class in alphabetical order. Not exciting... but you've got to start somewhere.

When we were designing the Barbarian Coin there were a few things we initially had in mind that we wanted to represent on the coin. Thinking about barbarians in fantasy role playing brings to mind different images or stories for different people. For me, the context of Conan The Barbarian from fantasy combines with a more historically accurate representation of the Viking culture from our own world. I like the big, bold, bawdy strength that just screams "please, pretty please give me a reason to throw you out of that window." I also like to combine that with the deeper family, blood and clan loyalties that tied together the lives of the nomadic tribes that used to be far more prominent before our currently technological and wide spread society took over.

Our manufacturers design proof.

I had to ask myself a few questions. What makes a barbarian really? Is it simply someone who's "uncivilized" because they dress outside the norm and live off the land? Well Druid's and Rangers do that. Is it their penchant for smashing things and screaming and taking no hostages? Well ANY class with an anger streak and an evil leaning alignment could do that too! Maybe it's their toughness, in general, that's instilled in the class physically? It turns out that it's really all of that rolled into a ball that's mixed up with some of the more subtle spices of life.

Living on the land among the beast and the wilderness as free folk, not under the thumb of the lords and ladies of the realm but bolstered by their neighbors, their kin, and their tools of both trade and war. The strength of back and toughness of spirit that's necessary to survive the harsh seasons and to push back when those lords and ladies send their knights and militia out into the field to "bring civilization to the uncivilized."

Embracing the passion of life both through their wildly swinging (and often breathtaking) swells of emotion and the physical feeling of every single ounce of your being being pushed to its limits in combat each and every time a glorious death is possibly at hand. All rounded out by a firm belief that Valhalla, or some other form of afterlife that greatly elevates the brave above even the strong, awaits those who earn a seat at that great table never to be without full mug and warm hearth again.

The final minted coins in real metal, in all 3 colors.

And so was birthed The Barbarian Coin. The double sided axe, a tool of agriculture and war. A tool with which a 'barbarian' would equally fell a tree, build a home or destroy a rival. The complicated nature of an entwined clan life and wrathful boisterous spirit split down the middle. The left half... what is seen by those on the biting end of the blade. The right half... what is seen by those whom it defends. Encircled as all by a binding rope, a woven structure that brings together what is seemingly unstoppable and indescribable by those outside of the inner circle. A Barbarian to some. Son.. father... kinsman to others.

I hope you enjoyed the read about my take on the Barbarian, there are more description and updates to come as we go through every coin in the set!

Until the next update!
